Tasmar Indications
Tasmar is a catechole methyltranferase inhibitor, which acts by prolonging the anti Parkinson effects of Levodopa. It is very important to start using the medicine as soon as your doctor prescribes it, and not to share it with other persons. Tasmar is a medicine that is indicated to treat Parkinson's disease. It can be indicated in combination with other medicines such a Levodopa or Carbidopa. It is important to know that Tasmar is applied in patients who did not respond to other past treatment options.
Tasmar Contraindications
It is recommended not to take Tasmar if the patient is allergic to one of more ingredients of the medicine, if the patient is suffering from liver disease or had at least two abnormal liver function tests or if the patient had to stop administrating the medicine before due to liver dysfunctions. Furthermore, if the patient suffers from muscle problems or fever and confusion that can by caused by the medicine, or if the patient is also taking a nonselective monamine oxidase inhibitor such as Phenelzine, a therapy with Tasmar may not be recommended. It is important to consult the doctor about the benefits and risks of taking Tasmar. Before administrating the medicine it is recommended to inform the health care provider if you suffer from any of the following conditions: if you are pregnant, breast feeding or plan to carry a pregnancy, if you are taking any prescription or over the counter medicines, dietary supplements or herbal preparations, if you suffer from allergies to medicines, foods or other substances, etc. Also, if you are diagnosed with kidney or liver disorders such as cirrhosis, if you have suffered from severe and uncontrolled muscle movements, such as twitching, or other severe muscle diseases such as trhabdomyolsis, or if you experience signs and symptoms such as dizziness when standing up, you should discuss with the doctor the possibility of being indicated another therapy option for your Parkinson's disease. Tasmar Intake Guidelines
It is recommended to take Tasmar as the doctor ordered and check the medicine's label for exact dosing instructions. The medicine is usually taken orally, accompanied with food. Do not abruptly stop the administration of Tasmar because it can increase the risk of developing more Parkinson's disease signs and symptoms such as fever, confusion, and muscle rigidity. While taking Tasmar, it is recommended not to use alcohol or other medicines that can cause drowsiness (such as sleep aids) because this can worsen the disease's manifestations, prolonging the healing period. If the patient stops taking the medicine, or takes other non indicated medication, it is better to contact the doctor as soon as possible for further instructions.
Tasmar Dosage
You should ask your personal health care specialist to tell you the exact dose of Tasmar that you should take, or the one that suits best with your medical condition. Do not alter the dose of Tasmar that you have been indicated by your doctor without his or her approval.
Tasmar Overdose
If the patient suspects an overdose of Tasmar it is recommended to seek medical support as soon as possible. The most common manifestations of an overdose with Tasmar can include one or more of the following: dizziness, nausea, or vomiting.
Tasmar Missed Dose
If the patient misses a dose of Tasmar, it is better to take it as soon as possible, and if it is the time to take the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. It is very important not to take two doses of Tasmar at once, because it can worsen the patient's condition, increasing the risk of developing side effects.
Tasmar Side Effects
Like other medicines, Tasmar can cause a variety of side effects, but depending on each patient, they can appear as minor to severe or as life threatening manifestations. The most common side effects that Tasmar may trigger can include the following: constipation, diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, gas, headache, lightheadedness, nausea, increased sweating, trouble sleeping etc. Patients may also accuse stomach ache, excessive dreaming, upper respiratory tract infection, urine discoloration, and vomiting. It is recommended to contact your personal health care provider immediately after experiencing one of these side effects. There are also other more severe side effects caused by Tasmar that can include: severe allergic reactions such as rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness inside the chest, swelling of the face, mouth, lips and tongue; blood in the urine, chest pain, confusion, fainting, hallucinations or mental diseases. Other less common adverse effects are: fever, tongue sticking out, puffing of cheeks, rigid muscles etc. Sometimes, severe diarrhea, shortness of the breath, liver disease signs such as dark urine, loss of appetite, stomach pain, severe nausea, and yellowing of the skin or eyes may be experienced. If the patient experiences one or more of these side effects, it is recommended to contact the doctor immediately.
Tasmar Interactions
Some medicines can interfere with Tasmar and it is important to inform the doctor if you are taking other medicines such as Warfarin, which can cause increased bleeding, Desipramine or Phenelzine which can increase the risk of developing Tasmar side effects, Apomorphine, Dobutamine, Isoproterenol, Levodopa, Methyldopa, Albuterol and Pseudoephedrine, because they can also enhance the patient's risks of developing side effects.
