Guaiatussin Indications
Guaiatussin is indicated to temporarily treat coughing and chest congestion symptoms caused by the common cold, flu, or other breathing illnesses (sinusitis, bronchitis).
Guaiatussin Overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include:
- Slow/shallow breathing;
- Loss of consciousness;
- Fast/slow/irregular heartbeat;
- Cold/clammy skin;
Guaiatussin Side Effects
Side effects may include:
- Allergic reaction to this drug;
- Constipation;
- Dizziness;
- Drowsiness;
- Facial flushing;
- Fast/irregular heartbeat;
- Itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat);
- Lightheadedness;
- Mental/mood changes (confusion hallucinations);
- Nausea;
- Rash;
- Seizure;
- Severe dizziness;
- Slow/shallow breathing;
- Trouble breathing;
- Trouble urinating;
- Vomiting;
Guaiatussin Drug Reactions
Inform your pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Anti-seizure drugs (carbamazepine);
- Certain antihistamines (diphenhydramine);
- Cimetidine;
- Medicine for sleep or anxiety (alprazolam diazepam zolpidem);
- Muscle relaxants;
- Narcotic antagonists (naltrexone naloxone);
- Narcotic pain relievers (codeine);
- Psychiatric medicines (chlorpromazine risperidone trazodone);
- Quinidine;
